The best burger I’ve made (taste tester meat-eater husband said so)! I have to agree! What started out as a simple dinner ended up being hours in the making!
Made with @beyondmeat , house made #beerbattered onion rings, smoked Gouda cheese, sliced Kosher dill pickles, brioche bun & my home made spicy honey BBQ sauce!
Burger Ingredients ( Serves 2) :
- 2 Beyond Meat Patties
- 4 Brioche Buns (toasted in the same skillet as patties)
- 2 Smoked Gouda Cheese
- 1 Whole Dill Pickle, sliced thick (I’m now a fan of slicing myself, the pre-cut pickles typically aren’t as crunchy)
Beer Battered Onion Rings:
- 1 White Onion
- 2 Cups Pancake & Waffle mix @annieshomegrown
- 1/2 Can Beer @modeloespecial_losangeles
- Canola Oil or Avocado Oil for frying
(I did a shallow fry in a pan, these didn't do well in my air fryer)
- 1 Tbs each: Paprika, Garlic powder, onion powder, salt (added to dry mix)
Beer Battered Onion Rings Directions:
Mix dry ingredients into the waffle mix.
Add beer to your dry mix. Note: the consistency should be slightly thicker than pancake batter.
Slice onion into 1 to 1.5 inch slices/ rings.
In a small skillet, heat your oil.
Dip each onion ring into your waffle batter. Note: for less mess, place battered onion rings directly into your heated oil. Be sure not to crowd the pan.
Flip onion rings once they get crispy golden brown on one side (this applies to the shallow-fry cooking method).
Cook the other side of the onion ring until golden brown.
Place cooked onion rings on a paper towel-lined platter and sprinkle with salt.
Hot Honey BBQ Sauce:
- 1 Cup Ketchup
- 1-2 Tbs Hot Honey @mikeshothoney (or make your own, using honey + cayenne pepper to taste)
- 2 Tbs Soy Sauce or Tamari
- 2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbs Date Nectar @realfoodco
- 1 Tbs Apple Cider Vinegar @bragglivefoodproducts
- 4 Drops Liquid Smoke (can omit)
- 1/2 Tsp Mustard Powder
- 1 Tbs Chili Powder
- 1 Tbs Garlic Powder
- 1 Tbs Onion Powder
Hot Honey BBQ Sauce Directions:
Mix dry ingredients together.
Mix wet ingredients together.
Combine dry & wet ingredients. Store any remaining BBQ sauce in a mason jar or air tight container in the refrigerator.
This burger recipe jazzes up any weeknight meal, or makes a great meal for date night!
